Trainer Annette Alfonso realized the importance of training at the tender age of twelve when her parents told her the only way she could have a Rottweiler for a pet is if she trained it. Annette jumped at the chance and credits her fairly young introduction to the wonders of animal behavior with her passion today because it made her appreciate the special way that animals learn, react and adapt. In 1998, Annette turned her passion for training into a profession and has dedicated herself to broadening her expertise to include Agility, Frisbee and Flyball and Obedience competition training. She is proudest of the moment she and her 2 dogs, Nina and her son Dealer, who Annette claims are the smartest dogs around, captured the Master Agility Champions title, which required an extreme number of consistent runs in agility competitions. Since then, Annette and her incredible dogs have earned several honors including the AKC Companion Dog Excellent title, the Flyball Dog Excellent title and has qualified with two dogs for the AKC Agility Nationals in 2005,2006, 2007, and the USDAA Nationals in 2006, 2007 and 2008. As a highly involved member of the pet community, Annette travels across the country advocating for animal welfare and performing with her dogs for audiences everywhere.
In order to expand her canine sports expertise Annette ventured into the world of canine frisbee.  Saga was the dog of choice for this high energy sport. At only 11 months she won her first distance competition beating over 25 teams in her class and just a year later she repeated the win in the category of Freestyle where different maneuvers, flips and turns where choreographed to music... Latin music of course! Eager to continue her training versatility she moved on to Flyball, the drag racing of canine sports. Her dog Dealer was the one to shine in this sport. He achived the Flyball Champion Title and put in consistent times of 4.2 seconds on the lanes. She believes you are never done learning and makes a point of seeking advice from the best in the country to enhance her own natural talent.
Annette’s amazing canine team includes seven incredibly talented dogs that perform acrobatic, freestyle routines all around the country. One of the most energetic dogs in the bunch, Pepper, a 12-year-old Toy Fox Terrier takes first place when it comes to cuddling and sets the tone for the rest of the group. Serving as the team leader, Nina, a eleven-year-old Border Collie, regularly competes on the national level and her exceptional wit allows her to continually step her performances up a notch. Performing right alongside her, Decker, a 6-year-old Border Collie, constantly keeps Annette in check by teaching her patience and flexibility. Known as the jocks, Saga and Dealer, both six-year-old Border Collies, raise the bar in competitions and are able to turn any situation into a positive one. Meeko, an 3 year-old rescued Papillon, raced to the excellent levels of agility in just 2 competitions. Up and coming is Poison a 1year old Border Collie who will be following the steps of his siblings performing and competing. The baby of the pack is Legend a 7 month old Border Collie with energy to outdo the rest of the pack. Through performances with her canine team, Annette hopes her students realize that every dog is special and each possesses a unique talent, but that is up to the owner to make them shine! Training an incredible dog begins with a strong relationship and then Annette encourages dog owners to set realistic training goals depending on their dog’s individual talents. She believes that the better communicators the owners are, the better able to dogs are to meet their expectations. She currently trains at FREESPIRIT TRAINING CENTER in Miami, FL
